Fire Risk Assessment

A fire risk assessment helps you identify all the fire hazards and risks in your premises. You can then decide whether they are acceptable or whether you need to do something to reduce or control them. A fire risk assessment is required by law and covers the following:

 

- Animal premises and stables

- Educational premises

- Factories & warehouses

- Healthcare premises

- Residential care premises

- Offices & Shops

- Pubs, clubs & restaurants

- Theatres & cinemas

- Transport premises and facilities

- Leisure centres

- Community halls & premises

- Places of worship

- Houses of multiple occupancy (HMO)

- Hotels, guesthouses, inns & hostels

- Industrial units

 

Who is responsible?

 

* Employer with control of a workplace, failing that or in addition;

* Person with overall management of a building

* Occupier of a premises, owner of a premises

* Landlords (multi occupied buildings)

 

Who should do the fire risk assessment?

 

It is essential that fire risk assessments are only carried out by a competent person. A person is deemed 'competent' if they have had sufficient training, experience and knowledge in all aspects of fire safety.
